FCT Police Arrest Four Suspected Vehicle Robbers Targeting Bolt and Uber Drivers
The Federal Capital Territory Police Command has arrested four suspected members of a criminal syndicate allegedly involved in robbing Bolt and Uber drivers of their vehicles.
The Command’s spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh, disclosed that the suspects were arrested on July 7, 2026, following credible intelligence. She identified them as Ibrahim Ismail, Ahmad Umar, Riskwa Shehu and Umar Abubakar.
According to the police, operatives of the Violent Crime Response Unit trailed and apprehended the suspects during an intelligence driven operation in the FCT.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects allegedly posed as genuine passengers by booking rides through e hailing platforms before attacking commercial drivers, dispossessing them of their vehicles and other valuables.
Police recovered two vehicles believed to have been stolen from victims. The recovered vehicles include an ash coloured Toyota RAV4 with registration number YAB 240 DL and a grey Honda Civic with registration number ABC 72 JP.
SP Adeh said investigations are ongoing and assured that the suspects will be charged to court upon the conclusion of the investigation. She urged residents, especially commercial drivers, to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious activities to the police.
