A suspected kidnappers’ camp in Kogi State has been destroyed by Nigerian Army troops, with 1,000 rounds of ammunition, six motorcycles and other items recovered during the operation.
The raid was conducted by troops of the 21 Battalion Quick Reaction Force in Edimogbo Forest, Igalamela/Odolu Local Government Area, following intelligence about suspected kidnappers using the forest as a hideout.
The Army said the suspects spotted the advancing soldiers and fired a warning shot before escaping deeper into the forest. Troops pursued them but made no contact.

Unable to apprehend the fleeing suspects, the soldiers destroyed the camp and its supporting structures.
Among the recovered items were 1,000 rounds of 7.62mm x 54 ammunition, seven bandoliers, six motorcycles, a mobile phone, a Glo modem, a hand pump, shovels, fuel, clothing and other supplies.
The Army said troops were still combing the surrounding area to locate the fleeing suspects.
The military urged residents to provide credible information to security agencies as operations against kidnapping and other criminal activities continue.
The hideout has been destroyed, but the search for the fleeing suspects continues.
