Woman Arrested For Allegedly Killing of Co-Wife in Kogi Community

A woman identified as Khadijat has been arrested in Kogi State after allegedly stabbing her co-wife, Ramatu, to death following a reported disagreement between the two women.

The incident occurred on Thursday, August 13, 2026, in Ijoka community, Olamaboro Local Government Area, while members of the family were in the bush harvesting palm kernels.

According to the women’s husband, Jibrin, he received a distress call around 4pm concerning an incident involving his wives. He said Ramatu reportedly cried out for help during the alleged attack, attracting the attention of other family members working nearby.

Jibrin alleged that when relatives attempted to reach the location, Khadijat warned them not to come closer, claiming the area was unsafe.

By the time they arrived, Ramatu was reportedly found with multiple stab wounds and had died.

Khadijat had allegedly fled the scene but was subsequently arrested in connection with the incident. Her arrest was confirmed by a presenter with Ankpa Radio-Television in a video posted on Sunday, August 23.

The husband said the two women had disagreed several weeks before the incident, but the family did not anticipate that the dispute could escalate into a fatal confrontation.

The circumstances surrounding the death remain under investigation as authorities work to establish exactly what happened and determine responsibility.
