54-Year Old Arraigned Over Alleged Theft of Five Goats Worth N300,000
A 54-year old man has been arraigned before the Iyaganku Chief Magistrates’ Court in Ibadan, Oyo State, for allegedly stealing five goats valued at N300,000.
The defendant, who pleaded not guilty, is facing a five count charge bordering on conspiracy, stealing, dangerous driving and causing bodily harm.
The prosecutor, Inspector Funmilayo Ige, told the court that the defendant and others still at large allegedly stole the goats belonging to Alhaji Dauda Oyakojo on July 24 at Oloje, Ireakari area of Soka, Ibadan.
She alleged that while attempting to escape with the animals, the defendant drove recklessly and injured one Tasiu Hassan.
The prosecution said the alleged offences contravened relevant provisions of the Criminal Code Laws of Oyo State and laws on reckless and dangerous driving.
The Chief Magistrate, Mrs Olabisi Ogunkanmi, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N1 million, with two sureties in like sum.
The court directed that one of the sureties must own a building, while the other must be a blood relative of the defendant.
The case was adjourned until October 14, 2026, for hearing.
