Lagos Begins Final Preparations for 2026 CAF Awards

Lagos State has welcomed an inspection team from the Confederation of African Football (CAF) as preparations gather momentum for the 2026 CAF Awards scheduled to be hosted in the state.

Governor Babajide Sanwo Olu disclosed that officials of the Lagos State Sports Commission received the CAF delegation and conducted a facility inspection of the proposed venue to assess its readiness for the continental event.

According to the governor, the inspection provided an opportunity for state officials to receive feedback from CAF and fine tune preparations to ensure the venue meets international standards.

Sanwo Olu said hosting the prestigious awards demands careful planning and attention to detail, expressing confidence that Lagos is fully prepared to stage a successful event.

He added that the 2026 CAF Awards will further showcase Lagos’ capacity to host major international sporting events and reaffirm its position as one of Africa’s leading destinations for sports and tourism.
