Onwa Agwu Masquerade Festival Holds July 12 to Celebrate Cultural Heritage

The stage is set for the annual Onwa Agwu Masquerade Festival as the community prepares to come alive on July 12 with a colourful celebration of culture, tradition and unity.
The festival is expected to attract indigenes, tourists and culture enthusiasts from within and outside the community for a vibrant showcase of traditional masquerade displays, cultural dances, indigenous music and other performances that reflect the rich heritage and identity of the people.
Organisers described the festival as one of the community’s most significant cultural events, noting that it serves as a platform for preserving age long traditions, strengthening communal bonds and promoting peaceful coexistence among residents.
They encouraged sons and daughters of the community, as well as visitors, to participate actively in the celebration, stressing that protecting and promoting cultural heritage remains a shared responsibility that will ensure the customs and values of the people are preserved for future generations.
The Onwa Agwu Masquerade Festival continues to stand as a symbol of unity, cultural pride and identity, providing an opportunity for younger generations to appreciate their roots while showcasing the rich cultural heritage of the community to the wider world.
