NASENI Empowers 100 Onitsha Youths With Electrical Equipments

One hundred youths in Onitsha, Anambra State, have received electrical equipment and certificates of participation from the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure, NASENI, following a five day training programme on modern electrical installation and maintenance.
The empowerment programme was organised under the Renewed Hope Agenda of the Federal Government to equip the beneficiaries with practical skills and tools to improve their livelihoods and become economically independent.
The presentation ceremony, held at Ime Obi, Onitsha, was attended by the Obi of Onitsha, Igwe Nnaemeka Achebe, Member representing Onitsha North One Constituency in the Anambra State House of Assembly, Hon. Mimi Ikpeazu, Commissioner for Youth Development and Sports, Hon. Patrick Agha Mba, among other dignitaries.
Speaking at the event, Igwe Achebe described the programme as an opportunity that aligns with broader efforts to develop and empower young people in Onitsha. He encouraged the beneficiaries to believe in themselves, stressing that hard work remains essential to achieving success.
Research Engineer with NASENI, Engr. Madagi Udu Carter, said the programme, which has been implemented over the years, was designed to create a multiplier effect by encouraging beneficiaries to transfer the knowledge acquired to others in their communities.
He explained that the Onitsha beneficiaries were trained in modern electrical installation and maintenance, adding that some were already qualified electricians who lacked the necessary tools, while others were apprentices who needed equipment to begin working after their training.
Some beneficiaries, Michael Agunyego and Josephine Nwati, described the electrical kits as comprehensive and suitable for both beginners and experienced electricians. They expressed optimism that the skills and equipment would help them improve their livelihoods.
