The Anambra State Police Command has arrested a 26 year old man, identified as Udochukwu Okafor, popularly known as “Small-Moto,” over alleged involvement in armed robbery, kidnapping, cult related activities and secessionist related offences.

The suspect was arrested on the morning of October 24, 2026, during a targeted operation in Ebenebe community by operatives of the Rapid Response Squad, Awkuzu, following intelligence led efforts to apprehend him.

According to the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the suspect was reportedly on the Command’s wanted list over his alleged involvement in the offences.

During preliminary interrogation, Okafor allegedly admitted to snatching a pump action firearm from a vigilante operative in Ebenebe. He also reportedly disclosed that he possessed a locally made short gun, which he and other alleged gang members were said to have used in their operations.

The suspect further allegedly admitted to membership of the Supreme Vikings Confraternity, also known as “Aro-Baggers,” a group suspected of involvement in cult related violence in Awka and its environs.

The Police Command said investigations were ongoing to recover the firearms mentioned by the suspect, determine the extent of his alleged involvement in criminal activities and arrest other suspected gang members still at large.

Okafor remains in police custody as investigations continue. The Command assured residents that efforts to identify and apprehend individuals suspected of criminal activities would be sustained to protect public safety and security.

The police said further updates would be provided as the investigation progresses.
