Senior ISWAP Finance Chief Surrenders to Nigerian Troops, Hands Over AK 47 and Ammunition
A senior finance operative of the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) has surrendered to Nigerian troops in Borno State, in what the military described as a major blow to the terrorist group’s financial and logistical network.
The development occurred on Saturday, July 25, 2026, when the suspect surrendered at about 6:45 a.m. to troops of the 3 Battalion, 24 Task Force Brigade, along the Ladari, Jegarawa and Tunokalia axis of the Gamboru Wulgo Main Supply Route.
Preliminary investigations identified the man as the chief finance operative of the ISWAP enclave in Jubillaram, where he allegedly managed the group’s finances and logistics. He reportedly surrendered alongside two male children.
The military said troops recovered one AK 47 rifle, four magazines, 101 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, one motorcycle and ₦40,000 from the former terrorist operative.
The surrender comes amid what the military described as a growing wave of defections from terrorist groups in the North East, with about 46 terrorists and their family members reportedly surrendering in recent days.
Operation HADIN KAI said the latest development reflects the impact of sustained military operations on terrorist groups in the region and represents a significant setback to ISWAP’s operational structure.
The military urged other terrorists still operating in the region to lay down their arms and surrender, while calling on members of the public to continue providing credible information to security agencies to support ongoing counter terrorism operations.
