Police Arrest Two Suspected Drug Dealers, Recover Illicit Drugs Worth ₦6.2m in Anambra
The Anambra State Police Command has arrested two suspected illicit drug dealers and recovered substances suspected to be cannabis sativa, methamphetamine and other drugs valued at ₦6.2 million in Obosi, Idemili North Local Government Area.
The suspects, identified as 47 year old Nzube Onyedikachukwu, alias Onyeoma, and 20 year old Ugochukwu Azia, were arrested by operatives of the Rapid Response Squad Awkuzu during a raid on a suspected criminal hideout in the early hours of Tuesday, August 11, 2026.
Police also recovered ₦598,400 in cash from the hideout, which the Command said was allegedly being used as a gathering point by suspected criminal elements. Some suspects reportedly fled the area when they sighted the Police.
The Command said the suspects are in custody while investigation is ongoing to establish the source and distribution network of the suspected drugs and identify other persons connected to the operation.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Nnanna Oji Ama, said the Command would sustain intelligence led raids and targeted operations against criminal hideouts, urging residents and community leaders to provide credible information on suspicious activities and criminal locations.
