Anambra Transport Commissioner Calls for Unity Among Joint Transporters Forum

The Anambra State Commissioner for Transport, , has called on members of the Joint Transporters Forum in the state to embrace unity, love and mutual understanding in order to promote a more efficient and peaceful transport system.
The Commissioner made the call while receiving leaders of the Joint Transporters Forum on a courtesy visit to his office in Awka. He stressed that a united transport community is critical to maintaining peace, safety and the smooth operation of transportation across Anambra State. He urged transport unions and stakeholders to put aside their differences and work together in support of the government’s vision while prioritising the welfare of drivers.
Speaking with journalists, the President of the Joint Transporters Forum, , explained that the forum brings together operators in the commercial motorcycle, tricycle, taxi, bus, shuttle and mini truck sectors under one umbrella. He said the visit was to inform the Commissioner that the various transport unions had resolved their differences and were committed to sustaining peace, cooperation and unity within the sector.
Mr. Okoye also highlighted the activities of the Drivers Welfare Club, an initiative established to provide support for drivers who suffer accidents, fall ill or face other challenges while actively carrying out their duties, ensuring that no member is left without assistance in difficult times.
Also speaking, the President of the Drivers Welfare Association, , said the reconciliation process initiated at the Commissioner’s instance had strengthened collaboration among the various transport unions. He noted that the association has continued to assist drivers during periods of hardship and appealed to the Anambra State Government for greater support to further improve the transport sector.
The meeting reaffirmed the commitment of both the government and transport stakeholders to fostering lasting peace, cooperation and improved welfare for transport operators across Anambra State.
