COOU LAWSA Launches Environmental Sustainability Committee to Champion Anti Litter Campaign

The Faculty of Law Students’ Association (LAWSA) of has inaugurated an Environmental Sustainability Committee to promote the university’s “Pick It… Don’t Litter” campaign and strengthen environmental responsibility among students.
The committee was inaugurated by the Vice Chancellor, , during the 23rd Annual LAWSA Dinner held at the Hollywood Event Centre. She described the initiative as a practical demonstration of leadership, civic responsibility and collective commitment to maintaining a clean and healthy learning environment.
Professor Omenugha noted that the annual Law Dinner remains an important aspect of legal education, as it exposes students to the ethics, etiquette and professional standards expected of members of the legal profession. She urged aspiring lawyers to uphold discipline, integrity and excellence throughout their academic and professional lives.
Reaffirming the university’s commitment to discipline, the Vice Chancellor stressed that the institution has zero tolerance for examination malpractice, environmental abuse and other forms of misconduct. She warned that any student found littering the campus would face a one year suspension in line with Senate approved regulations.
A major highlight of the event was the presentation of a commemorative portrait bearing the inscription, “Pick It… Don’t Litter; Noli Sordes Facere,” by the LAWSA President, , in recognition of Professor Omenugha’s unwavering commitment to environmental sustainability.
The Vice Chancellor commended the Dean of the Faculty of Law, , the LAWSA executive and the organising committee for supporting the initiative. She expressed confidence that the newly inaugurated Environmental Sustainability Committee would deepen environmental awareness within the Faculty of Law and further advance the university’s guiding philosophy of Values, Viability and Visibility, popularly known as the 3Vs.
