Anambra Education Commissioner Meets Principals, Reaffirms Commitment to Free Education and Better Schools

The Anambra State Commissioner for Education, Dr. Ekene Ogugua, has assured principals across the state of the government’s unwavering support as they work to improve the quality of secondary education.

Speaking during an interactive session with principals and education directors at the ASUBEB Utility Hall in Awka, Dr. Ogugua said the administration of Chukwuma Soludo remains committed to building a world class education system that equips students with the knowledge and skills required to thrive in the 21st century.

The Commissioner explained that the meeting was designed to foster closer collaboration with school managers while outlining the government’s vision for education in the state. He stressed that the free education policy remains a priority and warned principals against any actions that could undermine its implementation. He also urged them to safeguard students and school facilities.

Chairman of the Anambra State Universal Basic Education Board, Dr. Justina Anyadiegwu, congratulated Dr. Ogugua on his appointment and pledged the board’s full support in achieving the state’s educational objectives.

Also speaking, the Secretary of the Post Primary Schools Service Commission, Mrs. Benedine Anagor, described principals as vital partners in implementing government policies and assured the Commissioner of their cooperation.

During the interactive session, principals raised several concerns affecting schools, including insecurity, the absence of perimeter fencing, shortage of teachers, inadequate classrooms, non functional computer systems, and the need for additional school buses.

Responding, Dr. Ogugua assured the participants that their concerns would be conveyed to Governor Soludo, expressing optimism that the government would continue to address the challenges facing schools as part of its drive to strengthen education across Anambra State.
