18-Seater Bus Crashes into Market Shop in Ilorin After Brake Failure

An 18 seater commercial bus reportedly suffered brake failure and crashed into a shop at Challenge Market in Ilorin, Kwara State, causing panic among traders and residents.

According to eyewitnesses, the bus lost control after its brakes failed and veered off the road before ramming into the shop in the busy market.

Witnesses said a perimeter fence surrounding the market absorbed much of the impact, preventing the vehicle from plunging deeper into the crowded trading area and averting what could have been a major tragedy.

Although the crash caused damage to property, no fatalities were recorded as of the time of filing this report.

The incident has renewed concerns over the roadworthiness of commercial vehicles, with stakeholders calling on transport operators to carry out regular maintenance, especially on brake systems, to prevent avoidable road crashes.
