NDLEA Intercepts Cocaine Concealed in Phone Chargers Bound for Saudi Arabia

Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, have intercepted a consignment of cocaine allegedly concealed inside phone chargers and destined for Saudi Arabia.
The seizure was disclosed on Sunday, August 9, 2026, by the NDLEA spokesperson, Femi Babafemi, in a social media post.
According to Babafemi, the items appeared to be ordinary phone chargers but had been modified to conceal the illicit drug.

The discovery highlights the increasingly sophisticated methods allegedly being employed by drug traffickers to conceal cocaine and other illicit substances in everyday household and electronic items.
The NDLEA spokesperson also renewed the agency’s warning to members of the public against accepting or helping to transport parcels, luggage or other items on behalf of people without properly verifying their contents.
He stressed that traffickers could exploit unsuspecting individuals by disguising illegal consignments as ordinary goods.
The agency has continued to intensify surveillance and interdiction operations at airports, courier companies, logistics facilities and other points through which illicit drugs are moved out of the country.
The latest interception comes amid a series of recent NDLEA seizures involving cocaine and other controlled substances concealed in unconventional items and shipped to destinations outside Nigeria.
