‘I Don’t Know Where They Kept Their Brains’ — Ibiyeomie Blasts NASS Over Proposed ₦50,000 Fine for Preaching in Commercial Buses

The Founder and Senior Pastor of Salvation Ministries, Pastor David Ibiyeomie, has criticised members of the National Assembly over a proposed law seeking to penalise people who preach inside commercial buses.

The cleric made the remarks during a church service while reacting to the redrafted Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Act (Amendment) Bill, 2026, recently passed by the Senate.

The proposed legislation reportedly introduces a ₦50,000 penalty for individuals who trade, hawk or preach to passengers inside commercial buses. The bill is awaiting the assent of President Bola Tinubu.

Reacting to the development, Ibiyeomie questioned the rationale behind the provision, describing it as a potential threat to Christian evangelism.

> “I don’t know where they kept their brains,” the clergyman said while criticising the lawmakers behind the legislation.

He warned that if the provision becomes law, it could trigger serious tension across the country, insisting that he would not remain silent while, in his view, Christianity was being humiliated.

The pastor also criticised some Nigerian Christian leaders who, according to him, were vocal in condemning policies during the administration of former President Goodluck Jonathan but have remained silent over the proposed law.

He alleged that some of them were now influenced by tribal sentiments or financial relationships with members of the current administration.

The proposed FRSC amendment remains subject to the President’s assent before it can become law.
