Ebonyi Approves ₦30,000 Monthly Stipend for NYSC Members

The Ebonyi State Government has approved a monthly stipend of ₦30,000 for each National Youth Service Corps member serving in the state.
The approval was announced on Friday during the swearing in ceremony for the 2026 Batch B Stream II corps members at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp in Afikpo.
The Commissioner for Youth Development and Sports, Chidiebere Onyia, who represented Governor Francis Nwifuru at the ceremony, said the allowance was part of the state government’s commitment to the welfare, security and development of corps members serving in Ebonyi.
Onyia described Ebonyi as a peaceful and welcoming state with opportunities for young people, urging the corps members to take advantage of their service year to develop themselves, build relationships and make meaningful contributions to their host communities.
He also encouraged them to remain committed to their primary assignments and contribute positively to the development of the state.
The NYSC State Coordinator, Mrs. Malgwi Maidariya, commended the Ebonyi State Government for its support for the NYSC scheme and youth development.
However, she appealed for additional government intervention to improve facilities at the orientation camp located at the Old MacGregor College, Afikpo.
Maidariya identified the renovation and modernisation of the central kitchen, construction of a standard dining hall and establishment of a fully equipped Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development centre as some of the major areas requiring attention.
She also called for the renovation of the camp perimeter fence and improvement of facilities at the multipurpose hall.
The NYSC coordinator urged the newly deployed corps members to remain disciplined, participate actively in camp activities and uphold the values of patriotism, integrity and selfless service throughout their service year.
The swearing in ceremony featured the administration of the oath of allegiance, tactical displays by the Man O War unit, traditional performances and an inspection of infrastructure projects within the orientation camp.
The ₦30,000 monthly stipend is expected to provide additional financial support to corps members during their service year and further strengthen the relationship between the Ebonyi State Government and the NYSC.
