The Anambra State Police Command has arrested a 19-year-old suspect and recovered an Infinix Android phone allegedly stolen in Adamawa State, in an intelligence-led operation in Awka.

The suspect, identified as Mustapha Sani, was arrested on October 19, 2026, by operatives of the State Intelligence Department (SID), Awka, following efforts to track him down.

According to the police, preliminary information suggests that the suspect allegedly dispossessed victims of their mobile phones in Adamawa State before fleeing to Anambra, where the stolen devices were reportedly intended for sale or use.

The recovered Infinix phone is undergoing investigation as police work to establish the full circumstances of the alleged offence and facilitate its return to the rightful owner.

The Command said further investigations were ongoing to determine the suspect’s alleged involvement and establish whether other stolen devices or accomplices were connected to the case.

The Commissioner of Police, Anambra State Command, CP Nnanna Oji Ama, reiterated the Command’s commitment to combating crime, recovering stolen property and ensuring that suspects are brought to justice in accordance with the law.

In a statement dated October 22, 2026, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, said the Command would sustain intelligence-led operations and proactive policing to protect lives and property and maintain public safety across the state.

The police urged residents and visitors to remain vigilant and support security efforts by providing credible information that could assist in preventing and detecting crime.
