B Lord Backs Soludo’s Smart Transport Vision with Electric Bus Initiative

Technology entrepreneur and fintech investor, Linus Williams Ifejika, popularly known as B Lord, has pledged to support the Anambra State Government’s smart transportation agenda with plans to deploy electric buses, develop a digital commuter platform and partner in expanding modern transport infrastructure across the state.

The commitment was made during a courtesy visit to the Anambra State Commissioner for Transport, Hon. Edward Ibuzo, where discussions focused on public private collaboration to accelerate the state’s transition to sustainable and technology driven transportation.

As part of the proposed partnership, B Lord unveiled plans to introduce a pilot fleet of five electric buses on selected routes to provide affordable, efficient and environmentally friendly public transport services.

He also offered to develop, at no cost to the state government, a dedicated mobile application that will enable commuters to track buses in real time, access schedules, purchase electronic tickets and make seamless cashless payments.

The Commissioner for Transport disclosed that the Soludo administration is already developing smart bus stops equipped with passenger shelters, seating areas, surveillance cameras, digital information displays and real time bus arrival systems to improve commuter safety, comfort and convenience.

B Lord explained that the electric buses would be sourced from reputable manufacturers in China, with each vehicle capable of travelling about 300 kilometres on a single charge while requiring significantly lower maintenance than conventional fuel powered buses. He added that the batteries have a minimum lifespan of eight years, making the initiative both economically viable and environmentally sustainable.

The meeting also explored opportunities to generate additional revenue through branded buses, sponsored smart bus stops, commercial advertising and solar powered charging stations to support uninterrupted operations.

The proposed partnership is expected to reduce transportation costs, improve the commuting experience, attract investment, create employment opportunities and strengthen Anambra’s position as a leader in smart and sustainable urban mobility in Nigeria.
