Anambra Showcases Soludo’s Economic Transformation Agenda at Trade Commissioners Summit
Anambra State took centre stage at the Trade Commissioners Summit in Abuja as the Commissioner for Commerce, Mr. Nonso Chukwuma Ebonwu, presented Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s economic transformation agenda, positioning the state as a leading destination for investment, industrialisation and innovation.
Mr. Ebonwu delivered the only presentation by a Nigerian state at the summit, which attracted international trade experts, diplomats, investors and business leaders.
His presentation drew commendation from participants and opened discussions on strategic partnerships with Afreximbank, MTN Business and other international trade organisations to strengthen digital commerce, expand exports and attract more investments into Anambra State.
The summit also created opportunities for engagement with trade representatives from China, Russia, Spain and Portugal, with discussions focused on fostering bilateral partnerships and increasing foreign direct investment.
Highlighting the Soludo administration’s development agenda, the Commissioner outlined major projects including the Anambra Mixed Use Industrial City (AMIC), the Aerotropolis and the Anambra Innovation District, describing them as key drivers of industrial growth, ease of doing business and global competitiveness.
Mr. Ebonwu also highlighted the state’s ongoing reforms aimed at digitising commerce, formalising business operations and supporting Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises through technology driven policies designed to stimulate innovation and private sector growth.
Speaking after the summit, he reaffirmed the Ministry of Commerce’s commitment to translating the engagements into tangible investments and economic opportunities for the people of Anambra.
According to him, the ministry will continue to implement policies that promote industrial development, enterprise growth and wealth creation in line with Governor Soludo’s vision of building a resilient, investment friendly and globally competitive economy.
The Trade Commissioners Summit, organised by GlobalAfri Diplomat at the Afreximbank Africa Trade Centre in Abuja, brought together trade officials, foreign missions and private sector stakeholders to explore strategies for deepening intra African trade, promoting investment and expanding economic cooperation across the continent.
Anambra’s participation further reinforced its growing reputation as one of Nigeria’s emerging investment destinations and demonstrated the state’s commitment to sustainable economic growth and international partnerships.
