Anambra ICT Agency Launches AI-Powered Platform, “SmartGov” To Transform Access To Government Services

By Joseph Egbeocha

To make it easier for Ndi Anambra to access government services and information, the Anambra State ICT Agency has developed and launched “SmartGov”, an AI-powered platform.

A release issued by the Public Relations Officer of the agency, Angela Nwanodu, explained that rather than navigating multiple websites or searching through different government offices for answers, citizens can simply ask “SmartGov” questions in plain natural language and receive instant relevant responses on issues such as how to pay taxes, register a business, obtain a Certificate of Occupancy, access healthcare information or learn about government services, adding that the platform is designed to provide quick guidance through a conversational experience powered by artificial intelligence.

The release noted that AI is becoming an important tool for improving governance by rapidly changing how governments around the world deliver public services; from answering citizen enquiries to simplifying access to information and reducing the time required to complete routine processes.

For government, the release further explained that “SmartGov” represents another step towards more responsive, citizen-centred service delivery, adding that by providing instant access to information, the platform helps reduce uncertainty, improves the citizen experience and supports greater public engagement with government services.

The “SmartGov”, according to the release, also demonstrates how artificial intelligence can be applied responsibly to solve practical governance challenges, adding that rather than replacing human interaction, the platform complements government service delivery by making information more accessible, improving efficiency and helping citizens find the right services more quickly.
“As digital transformation continues to evolve, platforms such as SmartGov illustrate how technology can simplify everyday interactions between government and the people it serves. By reducing barriers to information and making public services easier to navigate, AI has the potential to improve accessibility, convenience and trust in government.
For Ndi Anambra, the significance of SmartGov goes beyond technology. It is about making government easier to understand, easier to reach and easier to use.”
