Anambra State Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Arc. Okey Ezeobi, has inspected a damaged section of the Ezekiel Ike (Lomu) to Ulo Ogbagu (Ubaha), Nwabugo Street, Community Primary School (St. Augustine), Community High School and Umunze/Umuchu Bypass Road following concerns raised by residents and videos circulating online.
The inspection was carried out to assess the extent of the damage and determine the necessary intervention along the road corridor.
According to the commissioner, the inspection revealed that the damage was limited to a particular section affected by a road accident in which a truck reportedly lost control, damaging part of the drainage system and a portion of the road.
Ezeobi said the damage was confined to the accident affected section across the over two kilometre stretch inspected.
He disclosed that the contractor was already on site to repair the damaged drainage and road section.
The commissioner appreciated residents for drawing the government’s attention to the problem and encouraged them to continue providing feedback and reporting infrastructure concerns to enable prompt intervention.
He reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to maintaining infrastructure and responding to genuine concerns raised by residents.
