Beneficiaries Commend Governor Soludo After Free Surgeries Across Anambra
By Stanley Nwako
Beneficiaries of the Anambra State Government’s free surgical outreach have expressed appreciation to Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo following successful medical procedures carried out under the Friends of Soludo initiative.
The outreach, organised to commemorate the Governor’s 66th birthday, provided free hernia and eye surgeries to eligible residents at designated health facilities across the state.
At Umueri General Hospital, several beneficiaries of the free hernia surgeries described the intervention as timely, noting that it relieved them of the financial burden of procedures they had been unable to afford.
One of the beneficiaries, Elder Sunday Odogwu from Awkuzu, said he received quality medical care during the exercise and thanked the Governor for making the opportunity available. He described the surgery as successful and commended the medical personnel for their professionalism.
Mrs. Nkiruka Nweke from Oyi Local Government Area, whose son underwent a successful hernia surgery, said the programme brought relief to her family. She also acknowledged the efforts of the State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Afam Obidike, for overseeing the exercise.
Another beneficiary, Mr. Nwoko Nicholas from Umuchukwu in Orumba South Local Government Area, said he had lived with the health condition for years because he could not afford the cost of surgery. He described the intervention as life changing and thanked the state government for the initiative.
At the Anambra State Specialist Eye Care Centre, Nise, beneficiaries of the free eye surgeries also expressed gratitude after undergoing successful procedures.
Mrs. Ogechi Dunu, one of the beneficiaries, said she had delayed treatment for a prolonged eye condition due to financial constraints. She explained that the free surgery programme gave her the opportunity to receive the care she needed and expressed appreciation to the state government for the intervention.
The beneficiaries collectively offered prayers for Governor Soludo and commended the state government’s continued investment in healthcare, expressing hope that similar medical outreach programmes would be sustained to benefit more residents across Anambra State.
