Amaokpala Youths Escort Alleged Serial Theft Suspect Out of Community

Some youths in Amaokpala, Orumba North Local Government Area of Anambra State, have reportedly escorted an unidentified man, said to be from Ebonyi State, out of their community following allegations of repeated theft and other criminal activities.

The incident was disclosed in a Facebook post by Okoli Chimaobi Samuel, accompanied by a video circulating on social media. In the video, a representative of the Amaokpala youths alleged that the man had been arrested several times for allegedly stealing within the community and handed over to the Agunaechemba security outfit. According to him, the suspect was repeatedly released after each arrest.

The youth representative further claimed that security operatives had become reluctant to take the man into custody again, allegedly stating that they were tired of making arrests without any lasting solution. He explained that, rather than taking the law into their own hands, the youths resolved to peacefully escort the man out of the community and warned him not to return.

Also speaking in the video, another youth alleged that the man had lived in Amaokpala for more than seven years without any known employment, property or family ties in the community. He questioned why the individual had allegedly become a recurring security concern despite previous encounters with security agencies.

As of the time of filing this report, the identity of the man has not been officially confirmed, and neither the Anambra State Police Command nor the Agunaechemba security outfit has issued a statement regarding the incident or the allegations contained in the viral video.
