AANFE Takes Free Adult Education Campaign to Awka Streets

The Anambra State Agency for Mass Literacy, Adult and Non Formal Education, AANFE, has taken its sensitization campaign to the streets of Awka, urging adults and artisans to take advantage of the state government’s free Adult Education programme.
The Acting Director of AANFE, Mrs. Lilian Ezenwaka, led the team on the road walk and public enlightenment campaign on September 7, which covered the Jerome Udoji Secretariat, Light House, Aroma Junction, Amaenyi Market Square, Eke Awka and Nibo Market.
The campaign is aimed at creating awareness ahead of enrolment into Adult Education learning centres for the September 2026 academic session.
The Unit Head, Awka South, Mrs. Okwukwe Nmuonaeke, educated residents on the names and locations of learning centres across the state and encouraged adults to embrace the opportunity to improve their knowledge, skills and livelihoods.
Also speaking during the exercise, the Public Relations Officer, Mrs. RoseAnn Okeke, stressed the importance of education and skills acquisition, urging residents to make learning a continuous part of their lives.
Addressing residents at Eke Awka, Mrs. Ezenwaka called on artisans and other adults to enrol in the free programme provided by the Anambra State Government under its Solution agenda.
She assured prospective learners that necessary learning materials would be provided through the Ministry of Education, under the leadership of the Commissioner for Education, Dr. Ekene Ogugua.
The agency said the campaign forms part of broader efforts by the Anambra State Government to promote inclusive education and create opportunities for adults to acquire knowledge, develop skills and improve their livelihoods.
