Peter Obi Urges FG to Intensify Security Efforts After Benue Attacks
Former Anambra State Governor and NDC presidential candidate in next year’s election, Peter Obi, has urged the Federal Government to intensify efforts to protect lives and property following recent attacks on communities in Benue State.
Obi made the call after visiting Otukpo Nobi and Efeyi Ugboju, where he said more than 10 people were killed or missing in Otukpo Nobi, while over 13 others were reportedly killed in Efeyi Ugboju.

He also said he was informed that 14 people were abducted along Ankpechi Road on the day of his visit.
Obi visited a mass burial site and hospitals where injured victims were receiving treatment, expressing sympathy with affected families.

He called on the government to secure vulnerable communities and close ungoverned spaces that have become breeding grounds for insecurity.
“The primary purpose of government is the security and welfare of its citizens,” Obi said, stressing that government must do more to protect communities facing persistent attacks.
