Ten distinguished sons of Anambra West Local Government Area have been honoured as community role models by the Anambra State Town Unions Council Youth Wing, ASTUC Youth, for their contributions to community development, learning and positive character.
The award ceremony, held at Nzam, the council headquarters, brought together youths from the ten communities in the area, who also showcased the rich culture and traditions of Anambra West through cultural displays and masquerades.

Speaking at the event, the National President of ASTUC Youth, Comrade Ken Okoli, said the initiative was designed to promote positive values among young people and provide them with responsible figures to emulate.
Okoli said ASTUC Youth had identified 12 core values of Onye Anambra and was recognising individuals whose lives exemplify those values as role models for younger generations.
He urged the youths to shun hard drugs, criminality and other social vices, while embracing hard work, discipline and positive lifestyles.
A former Chairman of Anambra West Local Government Area, Dr. Felix Ikechi, commended the initiative and encouraged the youths to uphold sincerity, integrity and uprightness.
Also, Chief Osita Offorzor, represented by his aide, Chief Aniekweze Chukwuemeka Nwokedi, urged the youths to embrace values and skills that would enable them to contribute meaningfully to society.
The organisers said the initiative would be sustained as part of efforts to promote responsible leadership and positive values among young people across Anambra State.
