August Meeting: Obby Nwankwo Celebrates Women Across Awka North and South

As the 2026 August Meeting season gradually continues across communities and churches in Awka North and South Federal Constituency, the APGA candidate for the constituency, Hon. Obby Nwankwo, has celebrated the women for their resilience, unity and contributions to community development.
The August Meeting, an important annual tradition among Igbo women at home and abroad, once again provided an opportunity for women to return to their communities, reconnect with families, support development initiatives and discuss issues affecting their communities.
Across communities in Awka North and South, women gathered in churches, town halls and community centres to deliberate on family welfare, education, healthcare, empowerment, security and the development of their various communities.
In his message to the women as the meetings round off, Hon. Obby Nwankwo commended their sacrifices and described them as strong pillars of families and communities.
He said the strength of every community is reflected in the commitment of its women, noting that their contributions extend beyond the home to education, business, community development and social responsibility.
Nwankwo encouraged the women to continue working together, supporting one another and championing initiatives that will create better opportunities for their children and young people.
He also expressed his commitment to maintaining regular engagement with women and other community stakeholders, stressing that effective representation must begin with listening to the people and understanding their needs.
As the 2026 August Meeting activities come to a close, the message from the communities remains clear: when women are empowered and actively involved in development, families become stronger and communities progress.
