Anambra state government sets minimum requirement, quality control for public skill acquisition programmes

The Anambra State Government says any public skill acquisition and empowerment programme in the state must meet set standards and pass established quality control.

The Commissioner for Youth Development and Sports, Mr. Patrick Agha Mba, said this new policy is being implemented by the Governor Chukwuma Soludo administration to ensure that graduates of any training in Anambra State meet global competitiveness.

Mr. Agha Mba was speaking in Ojoto, Idemili South Local Government Area, when he led a team of trainers of the ‘1Youth, 2Skills’ Plus Initiative to the master trainers’ capacity building and certification programme for the ongoing 1000-Youth and Women Skill Acquisition Programme of Idemili South Local Government Area.

The Commissioner, who was represented by the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Youth Development, Engr. Tony Omatah, also called on philanthropic individuals and corporate bodies to partner with the state government to extend training opportunities and fulfil the government’s vision to make the state West Africa’s entrepreneurship and logistics hub.

The Mayor of Idemili South Local Government Area, Hon. Mrs. Amaka Obi, said already 3,000 persons have been empowered under the skills acquisition programme of her administration, and explained that the initiative expands the benefits of the state government’s 1Youth2Skills Plus Solution Initiative.

The Deputy Leader of the Congress of Councillors of the council area, Hon. Valentine Mbadugha, told Ichie Times that the initiative is community-based, with centres located in the seven communities that make up the council area, while appreciating Governor Soludo and the state government for providing the technical support needed for the training.

The trade certification of the 50 master trainers will follow after their virtual examination, which will be announced to them soon.
