Anambra CP queries DPO, two officers over unaccounted armed robbery suspect

The Commissioner of Police, Anambra State Command, CP Nnanna Oji Ama, has ordered the issuance of queries to the Divisional Police Officer of the 3-3 Police Station and a Deputy Superintendent of Police over allegations concerning an armed robbery suspect reportedly arrested and brought to the station.

The Commissioner also directed the immediate commencement of disciplinary proceedings against an Inspector of Police over the matter.

The directives followed a viral video alleging that the suspect could not be accounted for after being brought to the station.

According to a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, CP Nnanna personally interviewed the complainant and the officers concerned on October 5, 2026.

The Commissioner directed the Command’s X Squad to investigate the circumstances surrounding the suspect’s arrest, detention, documentation and subsequent whereabouts, including the roles of the officers involved.

The Command said operational measures had also been put in place to facilitate the arrest of the suspect.

CP Nnanna said the Command would not condone unprofessional conduct, dereliction of duty, abuse of office or compromise of established procedures.

He also cautioned members of the public against circulating unverified information that could prejudice the ongoing investigation.

The Commissioner assured the public that the outcome of the investigation would be communicated once the facts had been established.
