Troops Foil Bandits’ Ambush, Recover AK 47 Rifle in Plateau

Troops of Operation Enduring Peace have foiled an ambush by suspected bandits during a follow up operation in Nwur Village, Langtang North Local Government Area of Plateau State.

The operation followed intelligence provided by a suspected bandit earlier arrested by the troops, who led security personnel to a location where he had allegedly hidden a weapon.

As troops approached the suspected hideout, members of the criminal group opened fire on them, prompting the troops to respond and neutralise one of the attackers while the arrested suspect was also killed in the ensuing exchange of fire.

The troops subsequently recovered an AK 47 rifle, an AK 47 magazine and two rounds of 7.62mm Special ammunition abandoned by the fleeing criminals.

The military said troops have continued clearance operations in the area to track down other members of the syndicate and reaffirmed its commitment to protecting residents and denying criminal elements freedom of action.
