No Unmarked Structures Demolished At Onitsha Main Market – Anambra Works Commissioner, Ezeobi

By Faith Onyemuche

The Anambra State Commissioner for Works, Architect Okey Ezeobi, has clarified that no unmarked structures are being demolished at the Onitsha Main Market.

Architect Ezeobi said the ongoing demolition is limited to structures that were previously identified and marked for removal by the government.

The clarification became necessary following misconceptions that new or unmarked structures were being demolished at the market.

Architect Ezeobi who was at the market to monitor the pace of work stressed that every structure standing on a water channel will be brought down as part of efforts to restore proper drainage and the original layout of the market.

The Commissioner further reiterated the state government’s commitment to restoring the Onitsha Main Market to its original form while ensuring a properly planned and functional market environment.
