Governor Oborevwori Rewards Spelling Bee World Champion With ₦20m

Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, has honoured the state’s Spelling Bee World Champion, Chinedu Okediachi, following his outstanding victory at the 2026 Spelling Bee World Cup held in China.

The Governor received the young champion at the Government House in Asaba on Friday, where he praised him for making Delta State and Nigeria proud on the international stage.

Governor Oborevwori described Chinedu’s achievement as a remarkable moment for the state, saying the victory demonstrates the impact of investment in quality education and the potential of young Nigerians to excel globally.

He congratulated Chinedu’s parents, teachers and the management of Madonna International School for their support, guidance and dedication, which he said contributed significantly to the young champion’s success.

The Governor urged other young people across Delta State to draw inspiration from Chinedu’s achievement, work hard and remain committed to pursuing their dreams.

As part of the celebration, Governor Oborevwori announced a cash reward of ₦20 million for the world champion and assured him of the continued support of the Delta State Government.

Chinedu Okediachi recently emerged champion of the 2026 Spelling Bee World Cup in China after defeating contestants from different countries.

His victory has brought international recognition to Delta State and has been widely celebrated across Nigeria.
