Flood incident: Works Commissioner Inspects Isiagu-Nibo-Awka Link Road

Following the recent flood incident along the Isiagu Nibo Awka Link Road in Awka South Local Government Area, the Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Arch. Okey Ezeobi, has visited the area to assess the situation and the challenges affecting the road.
The Commissioner, accompanied by the Managing Director of the Awka Capital Territory Development Authority, ACTDA, Dr Ossy Onuko, inspected the affected section of the road following the incident in which floodwater swept away vehicles and left one pupil unaccounted for.
The visit provided an opportunity for the officials to assess the extent of the flooding, the condition of the road and the factors contributing to the difficulty experienced by motorists and residents during heavy rainfall.
Arch. Ezeobi described the incident as a painful one, noting the ongoing concern over the missing pupil and the efforts of first responders, security agencies and community volunteers at the scene.
The inspection is expected to guide further assessment and possible intervention along the Isiagu Nibo Awka Link Road, particularly in addressing the flooding challenges and improving safety for residents and road users.
