Two Candidates, One Oyi Ticket? APGA Flag Presentation Sparks Confusion at Campaign Flag-Off

What should have been a straightforward presentation of party flags to candidates of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, turned into a moment of uncertainty over the Oyi State Constituency ticket, as Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo presented flags to both Hon. Innocent Ojike and Chief Kosisochukwu Ibemesi at the party’s campaign flag-off.
The development has raised questions among APGA faithful, especially in light of a September 2026 court ruling reportedly affirming Ojike’s emergence from the May 23 primary and directing INEC to publish his particulars as the party’s candidate for Oyi.

The uncertainty became noticeable from the beginning of the event, when Ibemesi featured in the gallery of APGA House of Assembly candidates displayed at the venue.
But the situation took a different turn when both men were invited to the stage to receive the party’s flag for the same constituency.

For supporters and observers, the presentation raised a difficult question: how can two individuals receive the party’s flag for one constituency while a court ruling is reportedly in place over the primary election?
The event featured the presentation of flags to three senatorial candidates, eleven House of Representatives candidates and thirty State House of Assembly candidates.
Addressing the candidates, Governor Soludo, the APGA National Leader, said the party’s strategic alignment was intended to consolidate progress and sustain effective governance structures.
He charged the candidates to take their campaigns to the grassroots through vigorous door-to-door engagement, urging them to present facts to voters and distinguish reason from emotion.
APGA National Chairman, Chief Sly Ezeokenwa, expressed confidence in the party and urged all candidates to take its manifesto to every ward and voting district, while reaffirming Anambra as APGA’s political stronghold.

The flag presentation was the high point of the campaign event, but the Oyi constituency presentation has left party members seeking clarification on the status of the two recipients.
The APGA National Working Committee will need to explain the basis for presenting flags to both men, particularly in view of the reported court decision on Ojike’s emergence from the primary.
