Jake Paul Rules Out Heavyweight Fights After Defeat to Anthony Joshua

American boxer and social media personality Jake Paul has ruled out fighting heavyweight opponents in the future after suffering a devastating defeat to former two time unified heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua.

Paul, who naturally competes in the cruiserweight division, was stopped in the sixth round after being knocked down four times by Joshua in their highly publicised contest. The defeat left him with a fractured jaw that required multiple surgeries, the insertion of titanium plates and the removal of several teeth.

Speaking during an appearance on The Pat McAfee Show, Paul admitted that taking on an Olympic gold medal winning heavyweight had taught him a valuable lesson.

According to him, he has no plans to face heavyweight boxers again but remains determined to continue his fighting career. He disclosed that he is considering a move into mixed martial arts and revealed that discussions over a long anticipated bout with former UFC star Nate Diaz are still ongoing.

Paul also hinted at a possible future contest with former UFC heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar, citing his amateur wrestling background, while suggesting that another boxing match, potentially against Floyd Mayweather, could also happen before making a full transition to MMA.

Meanwhile, Joshua’s victory further strengthened his impressive professional record and has reignited discussions about a possible blockbuster showdown with fellow British heavyweight Tyson Fury.

The bout marked another significant milestone in Joshua’s career, while Paul now looks set to rebuild his career in the cruiserweight division or explore new opportunities in mixed martial arts after recovering from his injuries.
