Troops Foil Mass Abduction in Zamfara, Rescue Nine Civilians

Troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA have foiled an attempted mass abduction in Unguwar Rogo Village, Kaura Namoda LGA of Zamfara State, rescuing nine civilians, including an infant.

The incident occurred on August 16 when terrorists, allegedly led by suspected kingpin Mallam Shuaibu, attacked civilians travelling along a local route.

According to the Joint Task Force, the terrorists hid in a millet farm and opened fire on passing vehicles, forcing some drivers off the road.

Troops of Sector 2 responded to the distress call and engaged the attackers, forcing them to abandon the operation and flee into the forest.

Nine civilians were rescued, while two women who sustained gunshot wounds were evacuated to hospital for treatment.

The military said Operation FANSAN YAMMA would sustain pressure on terrorist networks while intensifying efforts to protect civilians and restore peace across the North West.
