Tinubu Approves 27 Road Projects Worth N3.9 Trillion Across 15 States
President Bola Tinubu has approved 27 road projects valued at more than N3.9 trillion across 15 states as part of the Federal Government’s ongoing effort to improve road infrastructure and strengthen connectivity nationwide.
The approvals were announced after the Federal Executive Council meeting held at the Presidential Villa, Abuja. The projects cover Adamawa, Benue, Cross River, Ebonyi, Ekiti, Kogi, Kwara, Lagos, Niger, Ondo, Osun, Oyo, Plateau, Taraba and Yobe states.
Among the largest projects is the re award of the 409 kilometre dual carriageway in Niger State under the tax credit scheme at a cost of N1.8 trillion. Other major projects include the dualisation of the Ilorin Ogbomoso Road valued at N276 billion, the reconstruction of the Iseyin Eruwa Agbesi Road linking Oyo and Kwara states at N265 billion, the dualisation of the Ijaye to Ilorin Road with a spur to Akinmorin at N217 billion, and the reconstruction of the 21 kilometre Abakaliki Afikpo Road in Ebonyi State at N116 billion.
Additional approvals include the Ogbomoso Oko Illupu Road linking Oyo and Osun states, the rehabilitation of the Ilorin Omorin Ebe Kabba Obajana Road across Kwara and Kogi states, the Idi Araba Ayede Olodo Road in Oyo State, the Baban Lamba Sharan Phase Two Road in Plateau State, the reconstruction of the Enugu Abakaliki Road with a flyover, and the Adikpo Ajayi Tese Akpa Otukpo Road connecting Benue and Cross River states.
The council also approved several other road projects across Adamawa, Taraba, Ekiti, Ondo, Kogi, Lagos, Oyo and Yobe states, including new roads, bridge construction, rehabilitation works and flyovers aimed at improving transportation and economic activities. Approval was equally granted for the operation and maintenance concession of the Lagos Ibadan Expressway, while reconstruction of failed sections along the Ibadan axis will begin using concrete pavement. In addition, the first 118 kilometre section of the Abuja Kaduna Kano Highway, valued at N137 billion, has been completed.
