Senator Victor Umeh Visits Flood Ravaged Ogidi, Promises Federal Intervention
The Senator representing Anambra Central Senatorial District, Chief Victor Umeh, has visited flood affected communities in Ogidi, Idemili North Local Government Area, to assess the impact of the devastating flooding and sympathise with affected residents.
During the visit, Senator Umeh inspected some of the worst affected areas and expressed concern over the hardship caused by the flooding, assuring residents that their plight would receive attention.
He disclosed that upon the resumption of the Senate, he would sponsor a motion seeking urgent Federal Government intervention to address the recurring flooding in Ogidi and pursue measures aimed at finding a lasting solution.
The President General of Ogidi, Mr. Chijioke Ewesiobi, and the President General of Ogidi Youth, Hon. Chris Obi Okafor, appealed for urgent intervention from both the Federal and Anambra State Governments, particularly in the areas of drainage, flood control, rehabilitation and relief for affected families.
Senator Umeh also sympathised with the traditional ruler of Ogidi Kingdom, HRM Igwe Pharm. Alex Uzor Onyido, Ezechuamagha I, who was personally affected by the flood.
The visit has renewed calls for coordinated government action to tackle the perennial flooding in Ogidi and provide immediate relief as well as a sustainable flood control solution for the community.
