NASENI Empowers 200 Women In Anambra

Two hundred women from different parts of Anambra State have benefited from the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure, NASENI Sustainable Empowerment Programme held in Abatete, Idemili North Local Government Area.
The beneficiaries received bags of rice, clean cooking stoves and cash support as part of the programme aimed at reducing household hardship, promoting self reliance and expanding economic opportunities for women.
Speaking at the event, Executive Vice Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of NASENI, Mr Khalil Halilu, represented by a Director in the agency, Dr Chika Eze Anyanaso, said the programme was founded on the belief that science, technology and innovation should produce tangible improvements in the lives of Nigerians.
He said NASENI was committed to ensuring that solutions developed by the agency reach households and communities, improve productivity, reduce hardship and expand economic opportunities.
Dr Eze Anyanaso explained that the clean cooking stoves would provide beneficiaries with access to a safer, cleaner and more efficient means of cooking, while the additional support would help them meet immediate household needs and strengthen their capacity for self reliance.
He said the initiative was also part of efforts to support the enterprising spirit of Nigerians and contribute to President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda through economic inclusion, job creation, human capital development and sustainable growth.
Speaking on behalf of former member of the National Assembly, Hon. Ifeanyi Ibezi, former Anambra State Commissioner for Information, Dr Tony Onyima, said the programme reflected Ibezi’s commitment to attracting interventions that improve the lives of the people.
The Deputy Mayor of Idemili North Local Government Council, Hon. Phina Onwuachu, commended NASENI and Hon. Ibezi for extending the intervention to the people, while a community stakeholder, Pastor Favour Emekekwuo, described the programme as a demonstration of people oriented leadership.
One of the beneficiaries, Mrs. Bridget Umera, also expressed appreciation for the intervention, saying the support would help ease household challenges and improve the wellbeing of beneficiaries.
