Senator Umeh Distributes Farm Inputs To Anambra Central Farmers

The Senator representing Anambra Central Senatorial District, Senator Dr. Victor Umeh, OFR, has intensified efforts to boost agricultural production and support farmers with the flag off of the second phase of his Agricultural Input Empowerment Programme across the district.
The empowerment exercise, held on Friday, July 24, 2026, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church Field, Ebenebe, Awka North Local Government Area, saw the distribution of 300 bags of 50kg fertiliser and more than 20 multipurpose irrigation and spraying machines to beneficiaries.
The programme was organised in partnership with Pinatech Engineering Nigeria Limited and the Federal College of Agriculture, Ishiagu, as part of efforts to strengthen local agriculture, improve food production and support farmers amid the current economic challenges facing many families.
Speaking during the flag off, Senator Umeh urged the beneficiaries to make effective use of the farm inputs to increase their agricultural output and contribute to the fight against hunger and food insecurity.
He explained that the empowerment programme would be extended to other local government areas within Anambra Central, particularly communities with strong agricultural potential, stressing that supporting farmers remained essential to building a stronger and more self-sufficient society.
The initiative received commendation from traditional, religious and community leaders who described Senator Umeh’s representation as people-oriented and focused on improving the lives of constituents.
The President General of Ebenebe, Sir Raymond Arinze, and the Traditional Ruler of Ebenebe, HRH Igwe Nnaemeka Christopher Nnaegbuna, praised the Senator for his various interventions in Awka North, including educational support, constituency projects, employment facilitation and human capacity development programmes.
They specifically highlighted his scholarship support for 33 Awka North students among the beneficiaries of the Anambra Central Scholarship Programme, as well as the support that has enabled other indigenes to access gainful and pensionable employment.
Also speaking, the Catholic Bishop of Awka Diocese, Most Rev. Paulinus Ezeokafor, commended Senator Umeh for his continued support for the Church and his contributions to education, human development and the welfare of the people.
The Bishop urged the beneficiaries to maximise the agricultural equipment and inputs provided to them, praying for increased farm production and greater prosperity for the people.
The event was attended by traditional rulers, community leaders, political stakeholders and other dignitaries, including Senator Umeh’s wife, Lady Prisca Umeh, and representatives of the Nigerian Democratic Congress.
The second phase of the Agricultural Input Empowerment Programme further underscores Senator Victor Umeh’s commitment to using effective representation, agricultural support, education and human capital development to improve livelihoods and strengthen communities across Anambra Central.
