‘School Na Scam?’ Jim Iyke Sparks Debate After Claiming He’s More Successful Than His Lecturers

has stirred fresh debate over the value of formal education after declaring that he is doing better financially than all the lecturers who taught him, insisting that real success is not always learned in the classroom.

Speaking on a podcast hosted by , the Nollywood star argued that while education has its place, many of the lessons that shaped his financial success came from experienced traders, mentors, and successful business people rather than university professors.

Questioning the practical value of some academic teachings, Jim Iyke asked whether many lecturers have achieved greater success than the students they trained. According to him, many graduates eventually surpass their tutors in terms of financial achievement and life accomplishments.

The actor recounted meeting one of his former professors on a flight, saying the encounter reminded him of how far his journey had taken him. He noted that although the seating arrangement on the aircraft reflected their different realities, his point was not about status but about how success can be achieved outside the walls of the classroom.

Jim Iyke further stated that if he had relied solely on what he learned in school, he would not have attained his current level of success. He credited much of his business mindset to the advice of older entrepreneurs and traders who, despite having little formal education, built remarkable wealth through experience, discipline, and resilience.

He concluded by pointing out that several of the world’s richest individuals accumulated enormous wealth without advanced academic qualifications, adding that while education remains important, practical knowledge, mentorship, and the ability to seize opportunities often play an equally significant role in achieving financial success.
