SASA Destroys Cocaine, Cannabis, Tramadol, Mkpurummiri

The Special Anti Touting Squad, SASA, Anambra State, has destroyed seized consignments of cocaine, cannabis sativa, tramadol, Ghanaian Loud and the synthetic drug popularly known as Mkpurummiri in Onitsha.

The drugs were destroyed at Upper Iweka, Onitsha, as part of the Anambra State Government’s intensified campaign against illicit drug trafficking, drug abuse and associated social vices.

Speaking to ABS, the Managing Director of SASA, Mr. Monday Nwokoye, said the sustained seizure and destruction of illicit drugs was yielding results, stressing that drug peddling was no longer business as usual in the state.

Nwokoye said intensified enforcement had disrupted the activities of some drug dealers who, according to him, previously operated openly in parts of the state.

He explained that the destruction of seized substances was necessary to prevent them from being diverted or finding their way back into circulation.

The SASA Managing Director linked drug abuse to street touting and other social vices among youths, saying the campaign was part of the state government’s efforts to protect young people and restore order across communities.

He said SASA would sustain its operations against illicit drugs and other activities that threaten public safety, urging residents to support the campaign by providing relevant information to the authorities.

Nwokoye warned illicit drug dealers to stop their activities or leave Anambra State, stressing that the government would continue to intensify enforcement against drug trafficking and abuse.
