Property Agents In Trouble As Awka Legislative Council Set To Regulate Their Practice

The Awka South Legislative Council has successfully passed “A Bill for a Law to Regulate and Checkmate the Activities of Property Agents within Awka South Local Government Area, having duly considered and approved it after the First, Second, and Third Readings during its plenary.

The newly passed law is designed to address the growing concerns surrounding the activities of property agents, including excessive and unauthorized charges, fraudulent practices, and disputes involving landlords and tenants. It provides a legal framework for the registration, regulation, and monitoring of property agents operating within Awka South Local Government Area.

This landmark legislation is expected to promote transparency, accountability, and professionalism in property transactions while safeguarding the interests of landlords, tenants, and prospective occupants. It will also contribute to reducing avoidable disputes and ensuring a more orderly and equitable housing environment across the Local Government Area.
