Police Arrest Asaba Content Creator Over Alleged Rape, Death of 20 Year Old Woman
The Delta State Police Command has arrested Asaba based content creator, Ifeanyi Ogbonna, popularly known as “Odogwu of Asaaba,” over allegations of rape and the death of a 20 year old woman, Favour Agbro.
According to the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, the victim travelled to Asaba on June 1, 2026, following an invitation from the suspect, who allegedly promised to support her financially and train her in content creation.
Police said the suspect allegedly took the woman to a hotel where he raped and physically assaulted her. The victim reportedly returned home traumatised, narrated her ordeal to her family, and recorded a video detailing her experience before allegedly ingesting a toxic substance. She later died despite efforts to save her.
Following a petition, the Commissioner of Police, CP Yemi Oyeniyi, directed the Area Command in Effurun to launch an immediate investigation, which led to the arrest of the suspect.
The police said the suspect has made useful statements during preliminary investigation, while further investigations are ongoing to determine the full circumstances surrounding the case.
The Command assured the public that a thorough and professional investigation would be carried out and urged anyone with relevant information to come forward as the investigation continues.
