Outrage as Agunaechemba Personnel Is Accused of Raping 11-Year-Old Girl in Anambra Community

By Chibuzo Obidike | IchieTimes

An officer of Agunechemba Security Outfit, a security outfit of the Anambra State Government deployed to protect residents and safeguard vulnerable members of society, is facing serious allegations of child sexual abuse following the reported rape of an 11-year-old schoolgirl in Nkwelle Ezunaka, Oyi Local Government Area of Anambra State.

The allegation, which was brought to public attention by online influencer, Kasie, has raised concerns about the safety of children and the conduct of security personnel entrusted with protecting communities.

Ichie Times, however, has not independently verified this claim.

According to Kasie’s narration, the schoolgirl was allegedly subjected to abused by security operative identified as Agunaechemba personnel attached to an Omalima Estate in the community.

He said the alleged official deceived the girl into an uncompleted building where he had carnal knowledge of her.

The influencer claimed that this was not an isolated case after another operative of the security outfit was allegedly arrested after he made attempt to rape two women in their houses recently.

He is currently detained at State Criminal Investigation Department of the Anambra State Police Command in Awka where Kasie claims that an unidentified leader of the outfit surreptitiously made attempts to secure their bail without any attempt to reach out to the victims or the Estate Executive.

The disturbing account has triggered calls for urgent intervention by the Anambra State Government, the State House of Assembly, the Commissioner of Police and the Commander of Police Zone 13.

Kasie called on the relevant authorities to investigate the allegations, ensure the safety of the child and bring anyone found responsible to justice.

He also urged human rights advocates and other public figures to intervene and support the victim’s protection and rehabilitation.

The allegations raise serious questions about the screening, supervision and accountability mechanisms governing personnel assigned to community security duties.

Agunaechemba personnel, like other security operatives, are expected to protect residents, deter criminal activities and provide a sense of safety, particularly for children and other vulnerable people. Any abuse of that responsibility, if established, represents a grave breach of public trust.

However, the allegations have not been independently verified, and no official statement or confirmation from the police or the Anambra State Government was provided in the account.

Authorities are expected to establish the facts, identify those involved and ensure that the child receives appropriate medical, psychological and legal support.

The protection of children must remain paramount, and anyone found to have sexually abused a child must face the full consequences of the law.
