NSCDC Arrests Four Over Alleged Theft of Roofing Sheets from Jigawa Nursing School

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has arrested four suspects for allegedly vandalising and stealing aluminium roofing sheets from the School of Nursing in Hadejia, Jigawa State.

The suspects were apprehended on July 28 by operatives of the NSCDC Gandun Sarki Division during a routine surveillance operation aimed at protecting critical national assets and infrastructure.

According to the Corps, the suspects were intercepted behind the school’s perimeter fence in possession of 13 square metres of aluminium roofing sheets, believed to have been removed from an ongoing renovation project at the institution.

Preliminary investigations revealed that one of the suspects is a security guard employed by the School of Nursing, raising concerns over possible lapses in the institution’s internal security arrangements.

Following the incident, the NSCDC advised the management of the school to strengthen its internal security measures to prevent similar occurrences in the future.

The Jigawa State Commandant of the NSCDC, Muhammad Kabiru Ingawa, reaffirmed the Corps’ commitment to safeguarding critical national assets and infrastructure across the state. He warned individuals involved in vandalism, theft and other acts of economic sabotage to desist, stressing that the Corps would intensify surveillance, intelligence gathering and enforcement operations to ensure offenders are brought to justice.

The four suspects remain in NSCDC custody as investigations continue.
