Mrs Soludo Campaigns For “See Something, Say Something” In Fight Against Child Abuse At Idemili South LGA Mega Empowerment

The Mayor of Idemili South Local Government Area, Hon. Amaka Obi has empowered over 500 women and young people from the council area who were trained by her administration in different vocational skills.
The beneficiaries received the startup packs including 100 Saloon Hair Wash Basins,100 sewing machines, 30 Double layer ovens, and 50 motorcycles at the 2026 August meeting and empowerment ceremony of the local government area.
Women petty traders were also empowered with cash to invest in their businesses while another 10 young men received mini buses under the Idemili South Mass Transit Initiative.
Before flagging off the distribution of the empowerment materials, the Wife of the Governor of Anambra State, Mrs Nonye Soludo told the women that it is abhorrent to keep a child no matter their age as house help; urged them to say something when they see a child being molested and promised to continue to advocate for the promulgation of more stringent laws against abuse, molestation and other forms of violence against children.
In her welcome address, the Mayor of the Local Government area, Mrs Obi, said the empowerment programme is a reflection of her administration’s unwavering belief that the greatest investment any government can make is in investing in its people which also remains a central pillar of the Governor Chukwuma Soludo administration.
She said the empowerment programme is not mere distribution routine exercise but a way of building a culture of establishing entrepreneurs, innovators, and leaders who will create value, provide employment opportunities, and positively impact the society, saying that her administration believes that when individuals and women are empowered with the right values, families are strengthened, communities are transformed, and society experiences enduring peace and sustainable growth.
Other speakers at the event, including the Commissioner for Youth Development and Sports, Mr Patrick Agha Mba, the member representing Idemili South Constituency in Anambra State House of Assembly, Hon. Ebuka Igwe, the Anambra State Chairman of All Progressives Grand Alliance, Chief Ifeatu Obiokoye, the Candidate of APGA for Idemili North and South Federal Constituency in next year’s general elections, Chief Ikenna Iyiegbu, the Executive Director, Anambra AIDS Control Agency, Dr Nkem Okeke and some of the beneficiaries praised the initiative as critical to addressing the unemployment in the society and boosting the economy.
