LG Elections: APGA Rounds Off Campaign, Targets Victory in Anambra East

The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has rounded off its campaign ahead of Saturday’s local government election, with party leaders declaring Anambra East a stronghold and expressing confidence in victory across the state’s 21 local government areas.

Governor Chukwuma Soludo, who led the grand finale in Otuocha, said APGA was fully mobilised for the election and committed to strengthening grassroots administration through accountability, transparency and sustainable development.

Soludo highlighted the payment of salaries to primary school teachers and healthcare workers as well as ongoing development projects, while thanking the people of Anambra East for their support during the last governorship election. He said the contest in Anambra East would be decisive before the eventual declaration of the winner.

Mayor of Anambra East LGA, Mr. Ifeanyichukwu Chinweze, commended Soludo for his frequent visits to the area and support for development. He said the Otuocha Market project was about 70 percent complete and would serve communities across the Omambala region and parts of Kogi State. He also said peace had been restored in communities previously affected by conflicts.

Other speakers, including the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Barr. Tobechukwu Nweke, State House of Assembly member, Barr. Obi Nweke, APGA federal constituency candidate, Hon. Chinedu Obidigwe, Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Somtochukwu Udeze, APGA Senatorial Candidate for Anambra North, Senator Stella Oduah, and party leaders, urged residents to support APGA at the polls.

The rally featured colourful parades by the 15 wards in Anambra East, with party leaders citing free education, free antenatal care, free delivery services and youth empowerment among the administration’s achievements. They expressed confidence that voters would turn out massively for APGA on Saturday.
