EFCC Arraigns Two FCDA Staff Over Alleged Property Fraud
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arraigned two staff of the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA), Folashade Oketope and Mohammed Kabir Usman, before the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory, Jabi, Abuja, over alleged property fraud.
The defendants were brought before Justice B.M. Bassi on a three count charge bordering on conspiracy, criminal breach of trust and corruption involving the alleged illegal sale of four Federal Capital Territory staff houses located at Plot 756, Abubakar Usman Crescent, Jabi, Abuja.
According to the EFCC, the accused unlawfully sold the government owned houses to private individuals between 2024 and 2025. The Commission also alleged that they corruptly received ₦5 million and ₦4 million respectively from one Anthony Ezekwugo to facilitate the transactions.
The defendants pleaded not guilty to all the charges. Following their plea, the prosecution requested a trial date and their remand, while the defence applied for bail.
Justice Bassi granted each defendant ₦10 million bail with one surety who must reside in the FCT and own landed property within the territory. The court also ordered the sureties to provide affidavits of means and recent passport photographs.
Pending the fulfilment of the bail conditions, Oketope was remanded at the Suleja Correctional Centre, while Usman was remanded at the Kuje Correctional Centre. The case was adjourned to October 21, 2026, for commencement of trial.
